Elections
2012
Painter was running in the 2012 election for Georgia House of Representatives District 1. Painter ran against Mike Nowlin and John Deffenbaugh in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012. Thomas McMahan ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. Painter and John Deffenbaugh were the top two vote getters in the Republican primary, after no candidate obtained more than 50 percent of the votes. A runoff election was held on August 21, 2012.[2] The runoff primary between John Deffenbaugh and Painter remained too close to call.[3] The general election took place on November 6, 2012. [1][5][6]
In the end, Painter was defeated by Deffenbaugh.[7]
