The Prohibition of Sexual Discrimination ballot question appeared on the 1972 statewide primary election ballot in Alaska as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment.
Voters were asked whether they wanted to amend the Alaska Constitution to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sex.
The measure passed with 80.8% of the vote.
The ballot summary said, "Shall section 3, article I of the Alaska Constitution be amended by adding a new word (underlined word to be added) to read as follows: CIVIL RIGHTS. No person is to be denied the enjoyment of any civil or political right because of race, color, creed, sex, or national origin. The legislature shall implement this section."
