American Healthcare Education Coalition
The American Healthcare Education Coalition (AHEC) is a market-based, healthcare advocacy group based in Washington, D.C. and Chicago, Illinois.
AHEC' is a national non-profit, public-interest organization founded in 2010 by concerned citizens to help educate and inform the American public about issues affecting our nation’s healthcare system.[1] According to AHEC's website, they maintain offices in Washington, D.C. and in Chicago, Illinois.
AHEC's Mission statement states that: "AHEC provides timely analysis of the provisions and regulations of developments in America's healthcare system including those brought about by the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. As this new healthcare law begins to take root, AHEC is committed to educating people about the changes the law will bring, and how its provisions will affect families, small businesses, and the nation as a whole. AHEC seeks to advance a healthcare system that places patients and doctors at the center of health decisions. We seek to advance a free-market health care system and to incentivize medical innovation as the best way to both achieve the best quality of care and the best value for consumers."[2]
