Ciesla graduated with a B.A. in political science from Montclair State University and also graduated with an M.P.A in public administration from Syracuse University. [2]
In addition to being a senator, Ciesla works as an Area Manager for Ferguson Enterprises, Inc in the Atlantic Region. Ciesla is also a former member of the Brick Township Council. Ciesla is a board member for the New Jersey Builders Association.[3]
