Spears is the Clinical Director for TeamBuilders Counseling Services, Inc. She obtained her B.S. in Psychology from Southwest Missouri University in 1997, and her M.A. in Counseling Services from Eastern New Mexico University in 2005.[1]

Spears ran in the 2012 election for New Mexico State Senate District 7. She ran against Mark W. Myers and John Patrick Woods in the Republican primary on June 5, 2012. Incumbent Clinton Harden (R) is not running for re-election. Woods won the primary, defeating both Myers and Spears. No Democratic candidates filed for the district. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
