Ferrante is an attorney. She has her own law practice in Rockport and Gloucester.
Ferrante has previously worked in Congressman Joe Kennedy's Office, was a legislative aide to State Sen. Bruce Tarr, and served as the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Fisheries Recovery Commission.[1]

Ferrante won re-election to the Fifth Essex Seat in 2010. She was unopposed in the September 14 primary. She defeated Janet Holmes (R) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[3]
