Peterson Hutto ran unopposed in the June 8 Democratic primary for District 115 of the South Carolina House of Representatives. Peterson Hutto was defeated by Peter McCoy (R) in the general election on November 2.[1]

On November 4, 2008 Hutto won election to the 115th District seat in the South Carolina House of Representatives, defeating incumbent Wallace Scarborough (R).
