Tietze refused to take Project Vote Smart's 2008 Political Courage Test. The test, which is administered to all candidates for presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, and state legislative offices, asks one central question - "Are you willing to tell citizens your positions on the issues you will most likely face on their behalf?"[3]

Tietze won re-election in the 2012 election for Kansas House of Representatives District 53. She ran unopposed in the August 7 Democratic primary and defeated District 51 incumbent Mike Burgess (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[5][6]

Tietze won re-election to the 56th District seat against Becky Nioce (R) and Troy Abbot (L). Tietze had no opposition in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[7]
