This measure did not or will not appear on a ballot

The Arizona State Education Aid Amendment did not make the November 6, 2012 ballot in the state of Arizona as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment. The measure would have changed the Arizona Constitution to allow state aid to private schools. The measure would have also provided $5,500 worth of vouchers to pay tuition at private or parochial schools to students where class size is more than 35. The proposal was introduced by State Representative Jack Harper during 2012 state legislative session.^[1]

Path to the ballot

A majority vote is required in the Arizona State Legislature to send a constitutional amendment to the ballot. Arizona is one of ten states that allow a referred amendment to go on the ballot after a majority vote in one session of the state's legislature.
