Arizona Students' Association
|Arizona Students' Association|
- The Arizona Students' Association was founded in 1974 when students were working towards getting a member on the Arizona Board of Regents. The organization was created to pool efforts in order to influence the government and help students receive a voice. The Arizona Students' Association was first funded by the Arizona Board of Regents until 1998 when it began to run on student funds. This was important in order to keep the Arizona Students Association from outside influence.
- The Arizona Students' Association is run by it's Board of Directors which is composed of 26 students from public universities. "All Student Body Presidents sit on the ASA Board and all other Board Members are either appointed by a Student Body President or have a seat as a member of their campus’ Graduate and Professional Student Council or Association. The two Student Regents from the Arizona Board of Regents sit on the ASA Board of Directors as ex-officio members."
- "The Arizona Students’ Association is an organization directed and funded by Arizona’s public university students. ASA works to make sure that higher education in Arizona is affordable and accessible by advocating to elected officials and running issue campaigns to engage students."
