Arizona Violent Offenders Law (2012)

The Arizona Violent Offenders Law, did not make the November 6, 2012 ballot in the state of Arizona as an initiated state statute. The measure would have denied parole to those who committed crimes in the state that were deemed sexual or violent in nature. The proposal was introduced by the group called, Justice in Sentencing Committee, as shown on the Arizona Secretary of State's website.[1]
Path to the ballot
According to reports, petition drive organizers must have collected 172,809 valid signatures from registered voters by the July 5, 2012 petition drive deadline in order to have made the ballot.
According to reports, the measure did not file signatures by the deadline.[2]
