Diamond ran in the 2012 election for California State Assembly District 25. He advanced past the June 5, 2012, blanket primary, defeating Pete McHugh (D). Diamond was defeated by incumbent Bob Wieckowski (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
