Arno Political Consultants, or APC, is a petition drive management firm based in Carlsbad, California.
Founded in 1979, APC has collected more than 120 million signatures on 500 ballot initiatives in twenty states. The firm is directed by Michael Arno. APC primarily, but not exclusively, works on conservative and libertarian ballot measures.
Petition drives
2009
- APC gathered signatures to put the Ohio Casino Initiative (2009) on the November 3, 2009 ballot. [1] The overall validity of the signatures were certified at just under 51%. [2]
2008
- As of fall 2007, his APC firm was hired to collect signatures for the Presidential Election Reform Act . This ballot measure aims to change California's system of choosing representatives to the presidential Electoral College. Currently, California's 55 electoral votes are awarded to the presidential candidate receiving the majority of the popular vote, on a state-wide basis. The California Electoral Reform Initiative seeks to divide the 55 votes up individually, rewarding the top vote-getter from each of California's 53 congressional districts with one electoral vote apiece.[3]
- Arno Political Consultants collected the signatures to qualify the California Tribal Gaming Compacts (2008) for the February 5, 2008 ballot, earning $947,745.88.[4]
- APC collected the signatures to qualify the California Proposition 98 (2008) for the June 2008 California ballot, earning $900,000.[5]
- APC collected the signatures to qualify the Children's Hospital Bond Act for the November 2008 ballot at a cost of about $1,028,000.[6]
