Arsenio Cordova recall, Taos, New Mexico (2010)
From Ballotpedia
A recall effort targeting Taos Municipal School Board Member Arsenio Cordova is taking shape in Taos, New Mexico. The recall effort began after allegations that Cordova discriminated against school employees due to race or sex, created a hostile work environment and violated confidentiality of individual students.[1][2]
Motions have been made in a lawsuit filed by Cordova against those seeking his recall. Alan Maestas, Cordova's attorney, filed the suit against his colleague on the school board, Thomas Tafoya, parent Jill cline, and other "Jane Doe's" that are believed to be a part of the recall effort. The lawsuit claims that the defendants misused the courts by targeting Cordova for improper motives.[3]
Defendants in the case state that cordova is a Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation, which violates their First Right Amendment. The case is yet to be assigned a judge.
