This measure sought to create a bond in the amount of $50 million in order to help pay for the expansion and renovation of the hospital. Additional taxes would be levied on local homeowners to pay for the bond, but officials said they were unsure of the exact amount. If approved, the tax would have been required to pay off the bond. A August 2010 poll conducted by the hospital board showed a majority of voters would approve the measure which led them to refer the issue to the ballot.[2]
