On July 1, 2009, the Lucy Burns Institute (LBI) became Ballotpedia's official sponsor. LBI is a nonprofit 501c3 organization based in Madison, Wisconsin. LBI also sponsors Judgepedia.
Ballotpedia was sponsored by the Citizens in Charge Foundation from May 2007-March 2008, when the Sam Adams Alliance became Ballotpedia's sponsor. The Sam Adams Alliance has launched and spun off several new organizations including Texas Watchdog and American Majority.
