A Barrington Hills Village Electrical Aggregation Question was on the March 20, 2012 ballot in the Barrington Hills village which is in Cook, Kane, Lake and McHenry Counties.

This measure sought to aggregate electricity in the village, allowing for the village to negotiate electricity rates for residents and small businesses if they wanted to be a part of the program. Village officials saw this as a way to obtain lower rates for residents. Village officials would have been able to bargain electricity companies for the lowest rates possible.[4]
