A Barry County 911 Emergency Tax Increase measure was on the February 7, 2012 ballot in Barry County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 3,272 (65%)Approveda
  • NO 1,786 (35%)[1]

This measure sought to increase the current 911 emergency sales tax by a rate of 8 cents. The addition will go towards ensuring that the 911 emergency center can remain operating. A previous vote in November 2011 was narrowly defeated so county officials had hoped that this time residents would be more willing to approve the increase. Supporters noted that while everyone does not like more taxes, the services provided are essential to the community and serve the greater good.[2]
