There was a Batavia City Library Board Powers Change Measure A on the November 3 ballot in Jefferson County for voters in the city of Batavia.

The measure was approved.[1]

  • Yes: 141 (88.13%)Approveda
  • No: 19 (11.87%)

This measure changed the powers of the library board, giving them the authority to oversee the expenditures and income of the library. They will have power over money allotment as well, being able to have a say in where money goes within the library. The city board had these powers.[2]

The ballot read:

"SUMMARY: To authorize the City Library Board to have power over the expenditures and income of the Library, including the income allocated for library purposes by the council, and of all moneys available by gift, fine, rentals, or otherwise.

The City currently authorizes the expenditures and income of the Library. This measure would allow the City Library Board to control the income and expenditures of the Library as opposed to the City. The Library Board would provide an annual report to the City related to the yearly income and expenditures."[3]
