Betsy Johnson (b. January 12, 1951) has been a Democratic member of the Oregon Senate since 2005, representing the 16th district.
Education
Johnson earned her BA in History from Carleton College in 1973. She went on to receive her JD from Lewis and Clark College in 1977.
Professional experience
Johnson is a former Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. She was owner of Transwestern Helicopters Incorporated from 1978 to 1993. She then worked as Manager for the Aeronautics Division of the Oregon Department of Transportation from 1993 to 1998. She is currently a commercial pilot.
Political experience
Johnson was Director of the Columbia County Health District in 1990. She served on the Board of Commissioners for the Port of Saint Helens, Oregon, from 1992 to 2000. She served in the Oregon State House of Representatives from 2000 to 2005. She was appointed to the Oregon State Senate in January of 2005. She has served in that position since, representing the 16th district.

Policy positions
