Bill Avery (1942-) is a member of the Nebraska Unicameral representing District 28. He was first elected in 2006.
Avery voted in favor of Nebraska Legislative Bill 39, to restrict initiative rights in Nebraska.[1]
Background
Born February 7, 1942 in Harnett County, North Carolina, Avery is a professor emeritus at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a member of Common Cause Nebraska and the Democratic National Committee and is married to Ann Harrell with three children.
Education
Bill Avery earned his Bachelors degree and Masters degree from the University of Tennessee in 1968 and 1971 respectively and his PhD from Tulane University in 1975. All three degrees are in political science.
Professional Experience
Bill Avery has professional experience in the United States Air Force, as a political science instructor at Tulane University, and as circulation promotions manager for the Knoxville News Sentinel. He currently works as a professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and as an international trade consultant.

Bill Avery began his political experience on the Democratic National Committee and later joined the Nebraska State Legislature as a senator in 2006.
