Cutler was a Republican candidate for District 43 of the Connecticut House of Representatives.[4] He was defeated by incumbent Democrat Diana Urban in the November 2 general election.

Cutler said he ran because, "As I look at the record of my opponent, I see that too little of her focus has been on the communities she represents. Rather, 90% of her votes have been with the big city majority to the detriment of her home communities. I want to be a new voice, with those who say we have had enough and we want to be heard. My focus, if elected, will be to help create an atmosphere that will attract businesses to come back to Connecticut and encourage our growing business to expand here. Vote for me and I will give you boots on the ground representation, here and ready."[5]

Personal

Cutler is married to Elizabeth Winslow Cutler and has two step-children and two step-grandchildren. From a previous marriage, he has three children and five grandchildren.
