William Emmerson is a Republican member of the California State Senate, representing District 23.

Emmerson was first elected to the chamber in 2010. He previously represented the 63rd Assembly District from 2005-2010.

Biography

Emmerson is a member of the Kiwanis Club and Alumni Association of Loma Linda University. His professional experience includes working as an orthodontist and as Staffer to Assembly Minority Leader W. Craig Biddle and Representative Jerry Pettis.

Emmerson won re-election in the 2012 election for California State Senate District 23. Due to redistricting following the 2010 census, he was displaced from District 37. He and Melissa Ruth O'Donnell (D) advanced past the blanket primary on June 5, 2012, unopposed. Emmerson was victorious in the general election on November 6, 2012.

2008

The California State Senate, District 37 seat was up for election in 2008. Republican John Benoit won the seat in 2008 but a special election was held in 2010 to replace him. William was elected on June 10, 2010 and the District 37 will be up for re-election in 2012.
