Heath served in the Georgia State House of Representatives from 2002 to 2004. He then joined the Georgia State Senate in 2005 and has served in that position since.
Heath is a farmer for B and S Farms. He is also currently an Electrical Engineer for Design Specialists.
Heath earned his BS in Electrical Engineering Technology from Southern Technical.

Heath ran in the 2012 election for Georgia State Senate District 30. Heath and Bill Carruth defeated J.K. Rogers in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012. Heath defeated Carruth in the primary runoff election on August 21, 2012.[1] The general election took place on November 6, 2012. [2][3] Heath won re-election in the general election.[4]
