Bill Lester was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 3rd Congressional District of West Virginia. He was considered the Tea Party candidate[1] but lost in the Republican primary.[2]

Lester has been a trial lawyer for 30 years.[1]

According to his website, Lester's campaign platform included the following issues[3]:

  • Balanced budget
  • No bailouts
  • Lower taxes

Lester also stated that coal mining is essential to West Virginia's jobs,[4] and that he would try to fight Environmental Protection Agency regulations on coal-fired power plants.[1]

Lester ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent West Virginia's 3rd District. He and Lee Bias lost to Rick Snuffer in the May 8 primary.[2][2][5]
