Timeline
On January 22, The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to hire an outside law firm to investigate whether the county has the legal grounds necessary to oust Assessor Bill Postmus from office.[2]
On January 15, Postmus was arrested by investigators with the District Attorney's Office at his Rancho Cucamonga home on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, which was discovered during the serving of a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation.[2]
On January 6, Postmus admitted previously having a drug addiction to the board after returning from an 11-week medically related leave of absence from work. Postmus didn't say which drug or drugs he had been addicted to.[2]
Supporters of recall
The San Bernardino/Riverside Counties Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, voted unanimously in February 2009 to endorse the recall, which was pursued by the San Bernardino County Democratic Central Committee.[3]
