Wielechowski earned a B.S. in Business Management/Finance from Seton Hall University 1989. He went on to earn a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1992.
Prior to serving in the senate, Wielechowski served on the Northeast Community Council Executive Board from 2001-2006.

Wielechowski won re-election in the 2012 election for Alaska State Senate District 7 (G). He ran unopposed in the August 28, 2012 Democratic primary and defeated Bob Roses (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3]
