Laman ran in the 2012 election for Arkansas House of Representatives District 38. Laman ran unopposed in the May 22 Independent primary, and was defeated by Democrat Patti Julian in the general election. Other candidates included Republican Dean DiMichele, and Libertarian Debrah Standiford in the general election on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
