This measure sought to renew the current tax rate of $1 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a further two years in order to help pay for the operational costs of fire protection and emergency services in the township.[2]

The question on the ballot:


RENEWAL PROPOSAL Shall the previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution on general ad valorem taxes within the Township of Bingham, County of Clinton, Michigan be renewed in an amount not to exceed one mill (that being $1.00 per thousand dollars of taxable value) on all real and personal property in the Township, for a period of two years, for calendar years 2010 through 2011, inclusive, to provide funds for the cost of fire protection and emergency services and equipment within the Township? If approved and levied in its entirety, this millage would raise an estimated $105,000.00 in 2010.[3]
