Black Jack & Brentwood City Sewer Fee Usage Changes (August 2010)

Two City Sewer Fee Usage Change measures were on the August 3, 2010 ballot in the cities of Black Jack and Brentwood which are both in St. Louis County.

Both measures were approved

The Black Jack measure sought to change the assessed fee for sewer lines in a residential property from the current flat rate to a variable rate that would not exceed $28 and would be assessed annually by the city.

The question on the ballot:

Shall the City of Black Jack, Missouri replace its current fee of a flat $28.00 per year charge for repairs of defective lateral service lines with a flexible fee that allows the

City to assess a charge not to exceed Twenty Eight Dollars ($28.00) annually on all residential property having six or less dwelling units to provide funds to pay the cost of certain repairs of defective lateral sewer service lines of those residential dwelling units?[1]

The Brentwood measure sought to change the annually assessed fee of lateral sewage lines to $50 which would be assessed by the city on an annual basis.[2]

Shall a maximum charge not to exceed fifty dollars be assessed annually on residential property for each lateral sewer service line serving six or less dwelling units on

that property and condominiums that have six or less condominium units per building and any condominium responsible for its own individual lateral sewer line to provide funds to pay the cost of certain repairs of those lateral sewer service lines which may be billed quarterly or annually?[1]
