There was a Blairstown Public Library Measure A on the November 3 ballot in Benton County for voters in Blairstown.

The measure was approved.[1]

  • Yes: 99 (86.09%)Approveda
  • No: 16 (13.91%)

This measure asked voters if the Library board should be increased to seven members, adding two to the current five. They would still be appointed by the mayor but the two extra would be from the rural areas of the city.[2]

The question on the ballot read, “Shall the Blairstown Public Library change its board membership to a total of seven (7) board members consisting of at least five (5) resident members and up to two (2) rural members with all board members appointed by the mayor with approval of the city council. Said board members shall serve no more than two (2) consecutive terms. Changes, if approved, will go into effect December 1, 2009.”[3]

Blairstown has an estimated population of about 685 residents.[4]
