Biography
Etheridge was born on August 11, 1941 in Sampson County, NC. Raised in Johnston County, he graduated from the historic Cleveland School. He earned a basketball scholarship and was the first member of his family to graduate from college, earning a BS in business administration from Campbell University. After college, Etheridge served in the U.S. Army for two years.
Etheridge has worked as a small businessman, part-time tobacco farmer and public servant.[2]

Elections
2012
Etheridge ran for the Democratic nomination for Governor of North Carolina. He finished second in the May 8th primary election behind Walter Dalton and ahead of Bill Faison, Gary M. Dunn, Gardenia Henley and Bruce Blackmon.[1]
Personal
Etheridge teaches Sunday School at his church. He and his wife, Faye, have three children and five grandchildren.
