Contents |
Rucho served in the North Carolina State Senate from 1997 to 2004. He was then reappointed to the North Carolina State Senate in June of 2008. He has served in that position since, representing the 39th district.
Rucho earned his BS from Northeastern University in 1970. He went on to receive his DDS from the Medical College of Virginia in 1974. He then earned his Advanced Degree in Prosthodontics from Boston University in 1977. He later receive his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1994.
Rucho is a Dentist/Prothodontics Specialist. He is the former Chief of the Department of Dentistry at Carolinas Medical Center.

Redistricting
Rucho has been selected to chair the Senate Redistricting Committee. Said Rucho, "I look forward to leading the Senate efforts during the redistricting process. We will work prudently and deliberately to draw fair and legal lines for districts across the state that will uphold the right of the people of North Carolina to choose their representatives."[1]
