The Bowler School District Referendum was a school bond measure on the April 7 ballot in the Bowler School District which is in Shawano County. The referendum was brought to the ballot by the school board and it sought to exceed state-set revenue limits by $250,000 per year for three years (totaling $750,000 overall). The additional funds will be used for basic operating costs. The measure was successful.
Status
Passed, with the slim margin of seven votes: 223 "yes" votes to 216 "no" votes.[1][2]
Wording of referendum
Resolution authorizing the school district budget to exceed revenue limit by $250,000 for non-recurring purposes; Be it resolved by the School Board of the School District of Bowler, Shawano County, Wisconsin that the revenues included in the School District budget for the 2009-2010 school year through the 2011-2012 school year be authroized (sic) to exceed the revenue limit specified in Section 121.91, Wisconsin Statutes, by $250,000 a year, for non-recurring purposes consisting of operating expenses related to existing District programs.[2]
