Housman is a financial advisor with Hilliard Lyons.

On November 4, 2008, Housman was elected to the 3rd District Seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives, defeating Zana Renfro (D).[3] Housman raised $92,459 for his campaign, while Renfro raised $72,413. [4]
