There was a Brewster School District Maintenance Levy measure on the February 9 ballot in Douglas and Okanogan Counties for voters in the Brewster school district.

This measure was approved overall.

  • YES 481 (62.06%)Approveda
  • NO 294 (37.94)[1]

The levy, since it was approved, will replace a current levy that was voted into law in 2008. The levy will increase the taxes on property in the area from $2.97 to $3.43 per $1,000. Currently this levy covers about 9 percent of the school district's budget and with the next year looking to be hard economically, this levy is seen as vital to the school board. The previous levy was passed with a 60 percent approval and with meeting and information sessions, the school board hopes this one will as well.[2]
