Brian Boquist (b. October 20, 1958) has been a Republican member of the Oregon Senate since 2008, representing the 12th district.

Education

Boquist earned his BS in Social Science and Business Administration from Western Oregon State College in 1985. He then received his MBA from Oregon State University in 1989.

Professional experience

Boquist was a Forester for Fitch and Son Logging Corporation from 1980 to 1981. He worked in Construction for McMullen Custom Building in 1981 and 1984. From 1983 to 1985 he was Business Manager and President of ASWOSC at Western Oregon State University. He was Operations Director for International Trask Limited from 1984 to 1987. Boquist then worked as Marketing Director for Network Analysis Software from 1987 to 1989. During this time he was also Program Coordinator, GRA, for the Oregon State System of Higher Education. From 1989 to 1990 he was Director of Operations for International Trask Group. He also worked as Director of the International Marketing Group at Evergreen International Airlines, a part of Evergreen Agricultural Enterprises, from 1990 to 1993. He was Vice President of International and Government Affairs for International Charter Incorporated and National Charter Network from 1993 to 1995. Boquist served as Deputy Commander/Chief of Staff for a Joint Special Operations Task Force in Iraq from 2003 to 2004. He has worked as a rancher and family partner of North Indian Creek Ranch from 1995 to 2006. He has also been a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve since 1975. From 1995 to 2008 he was Executive Director for the International Charter Incorporated of Oregon Foundation.

Political experience

Boquist was a Congressional Activist in Washington DC from 1983 to 2000. He was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives in 2000, 2002, and 2004, but he was never elected. He served in the Oregon State House of Representatives from 2004 to 2008. In 2008 he joined the Oregon State Senate. He has served in that position since, representing the 12th district.
