Strickland ran in the 2012 election for Georgia House of Representatives District 111. Strickland ran against Trea Pipkin in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012. Bill Blackmon ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][4] Strickland defeated Bill Blackmon in the general election.[5]
