Brown County 911 Emergency Fee Implementation (April 2011)
A Brown County 911 Emergency Fee Implementation measure was on the April 5, 2011 ballot in Brown County. This measure was approved.
- YES 560 (58.4%)
- NO 399 (41.6%)[1]
This measure sought to implement a surcharge fee of $3 a month for county residents in order to upgrade the county 911 emergency system to an enhanced service. Currently from a land line the 911 emergency dispatch can not locate the caller via GPS, something which emergency responders could use to provide help quicker for victims. Cell phone calls also cannot be accepted by the current system, so Cass County takes those calls when they occur. Emergency personnel noted that this was important for residents in order to ensure safety and timely response in times of need.[2]
