Bruce Exceed Revenue Limit (2008)

The Bruce Exceed Revenue Limits referendum was on the April 1, 2008 ballot in the School District of Bruce, which is in Rusk County. The purpose of the referendum was to exceed the state-set revenue cap by $300,000 per year for five years (totaling $1,500,000 overall), with the additional funds being directed to the school budget. The additional funds would have bene used to meet the basic operating costs of the district, purchase buses, and to upgrade technology.

Text of measure

Be it resolved by the School Board of the School District of Bruce, Rusk and Sawyer Counties, Wisconsin, that the revenues included in the School District budget be authorized to exceed the revenue limit specified in Section 121.91, Wisconsin Statutes for 5 years, beginning with the 2008-2009 school year and through the 2012-2013 school year, by $300,000 a year, for non-recurring purposes consisting of maintaining school facilities, purchasing buses, and upgrading technology.

Result

Failed, with 481 "yes" votes and 611 "no" votes.
