Tutvedt was owner and operator of Bruce Tutvedt Farm from 1984 to 2008.

Tutvedt won re-election in the 2012 election for Montana State Senate, District 47. Tutvedt defeated Jayson Peters and Rollan Roberts II in the June 5 primary election and defeated Shannon D. Hanson (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
