Nornes is Owner and Broadcaster of KJJK AM/FM Radio.
Prior to joining the House, he was a member of the Fergus Falls School Board from 1983-1996.

Nornes won re-election in the 2012 election for Minnesota House of Representatives District 8A. He was unopposed in the Republican primary on August 7 and defeated Chester Nettestad (D) in the general election on November 6.[2][3]
2010
Nornes won re-election to the District 10A Seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. He defeated Richard Kagan (DFL) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[4]
