Its sponsors, however, did not submit any signatures to election officials by the deadline.
If the initiative had qualified for the ballot and been approved by the state's voters, it would have:
- Declared in the California Constitution that corporations are not persons.
- Declared in the California Constitution that only human beings are valid and recognized people in California.

- Kyle L. Sison submitted a letter requesting a ballot title on January 24, 2012.
- A ballot title and summary were issued by the Attorney General of California's office on March 15, 2012.
- 807,615 valid signatures were required for qualification purposes.
- The 150-day circulation deadline for #12-0003 was August 13, 2012. Filing sufficient signatures by that date would have allowed the initiative to compete on the November 2014 ballot.
- No signatures were filed by the filing deadline.
