California Taxpayers' Association (Cal-Tax) is a non-profit research and advocacy organization based in
California. The organization was founded in 1926.
Cal-Tax produces legislative analysis, "tax fact" briefings, reports on government waste, fraud and mismanagement, and ballot measure analysis.
Mission
According to its website, Cal-Tax was founded "to protect taxpayers from unnecessary taxes and to promote government efficiency." [1].
Leadership
Teresa Casazza was appointed as Cal-Tax president in January 2008. She is a certified public accountant and tax expert who formerly served as Cal-Tax vice-president and legislative director. She is the organization's 10th chief executive.
Her background includes:
- Eleven years, vice-president of state public policy, American Electronics Association.
- Eight years, state and local tax manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers.
