The official California Voter Guide is a publication prepared by the Office of the California Secretary of State with the aim of providing information to California voters about the ballot propositions they will find on their ballot, along with information about the voting process.

The official voter guide prepared by California election authorities comes in seven languages:

  • Spanish
  • Chinese
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Tagalog
  • Vietnamese

Online versions

Since March of 1996, online version of California's voter guide have been provided:

Local voter guides

Political jurisdictions within the state publish voter guides when a local ballot measures is on the ballot in that jurisdiction.

Some of the local voter guides, such as the voter guide published in San Francisco allow supporters and opponents to buy paid political advertising in the official ballot guide.[1]
