George attended American School in Chicago in 1944. He then received his diploma from Houtzdale High School in 1945.
George worked as a Seaman in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1945. He then worked as an Administration Officer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation from 1972 to 1974. He also was Co-Owner of Jacob George Ford from 1960 to 2006. George has also worked as a Sprinkler Installer for Greiner Corporation.
Geoge served as Mayor of the Houtzdale Borough from 1966 to 1970. He was also Chair of the Clearfield County Democratic Committee from 1968 to 1970. He has served as a member of the Houtzdale Borough Council as well.

On November 4, 2008, George won re-election to the 74th District seat of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He received 14,744 votes, defeating Republican Richard Hansel (8,518).[2]
