This measure sought to renew the current school property tax which generates $6.4 million a year and will expire at the ends of this year. The levy would have helped pay for projected budget shortfalls but still would not have covered all the money that is expected to be lost from state funding. The measure would have expired in two years unless the board changed the time and would not have increased taxes but keep them at the same rate.[3]
