Cafaro was a Staff Member for both Edward Kennedy and Alfonse D'Amato of the United States Senate.
Cafaro earned her BA from Stanford University in 1997. She went on to receive her MA in International Relations from Georgetown University. She then earned her MALS from Georgetown University in 2001.
