A Carmel School District Levy Increase measure was on the May 4, 2010 ballot in the city of Carmel which is in Hamilton County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 10,417 (57.87%)Approveda
  • NO 7,584 (42.13%)[1]

This measure sought to increase local property taxes to generate $12 million a year in order to help with operational and general funds costs at the schools. If the measure had not passed then school officials noted that at least 40 teaching jobs would be cut.[2] The cost to local property owners will be about $18 a month in extra taxes. City officials were trying to stress the importance of the passage of this measure, noting that without the schools the city would not be as successful.[3]
