Issues

Campaign themes

  • Second Amendment Rights

Excerpt: "As your delegate, I will staunchly defend your right to keep and bear arms, without restrictions because it is your right to protect your family, home and business from criminals."

  • Right to Life

Excerpt: "I have served as a vestry member and currently am a trustee of Ware Episcopal Church. Morally and spiritually I believe that it is our responsibility to protect the unborn as every human being has the right to life. I am committed to supporting legislation that values every human being, provides moral alternatives to women facing unplanned pregnancy and prevents your tax dollars from funding abortion."

  • Property Rights of Virginians

Excerpt: "I was born and raised on the banks of the York River, where I still live with my wife and children. As citizens of this Commonwealth, it is our right to own property free of unconstitutional, unfunded state and federal mandates that would disrupt the free-market system. I will continue to defend these rights as your delegate."

  • Education

Excerpt: "Dedicating time and resources to educating our children is a great priority. As a parent, volunteer for the Gloucester Boys and Girls Club and a frequent guest lecturer at the Mason School of Business at William and Mary, I have learned that every person has unique learning needs. I will work to expand the variety of options available, oppose standardized testing as the sole means of evaluating performance and work to put educational choices back in parents' hands."

  • Taxes

Excerpt: "Increasing taxes is not the way to solve our problems. In fact, the issues facing Virginia are not due to lack of revenue, they are due to excessive spending. A balanced budget can only come from correcting state government inefficiencies and using inventive, sensible alternatives to frivolous taxation."

  • Job Creation

Excerpt: "I am proud to have established a thriving business in our great Commonwealth, which has created hundreds of jobs and stimulated Virginia's economy. As an entrepreneur, I have weathered the detriment of unfair, inflexible labor laws. Lowering taxes and decreasing regulation are crucial to Virginia's success as a seat of entrepreneurial growth and as a "right to work" state. We must enact laws that foster a flexible work environment for businesses and workers."

  • Healthcare

Excerpt: "I will do all that is in my power to fight against the federal takeover of healthcare. Healthecare should be between you and your doctor and not dicated by bureaucrats in Washington. Virginians need to deal with the health needs of Virginians."

Personal

Jones and his wife, Polly, have two children.
